Bible Story Cartoons: Noah, the Ark, and a Coloring Page Full of Animals!
One of the wonderful things about the Bible is that it is full of great stories. Some are exciting. Some are mysterious. Some are funny in unexpected ways. And all of them help us learn something about God and ourselves.
That is exactly why we are beginning a new feature here at Catholic Roads called Bible Story Cartoons!
These are not simply coloring pages. They are humorous cartoons designed to encourage children, parents, grandparents, teachers, and anyone else who enjoys a smile to spend a little more time opening their Bible and discovering what is inside.
Sometimes laughter opens the door to learning.
And sometimes a cartoon can lead us right back into Scripture.
Today we begin with one of the best-known stories in the entire Bible…
Noah and the Big Boat
Bible Reading: Genesis 6:1–7:5
Long, long ago, many generations had passed since the time of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel. The earth had become filled with people.
But there was a problem.
The people had forgotten about God. They were being cruel, selfish, and wicked. God looked upon the world He had created and was saddened by what He saw.
Yet there was one man who still tried to live the right way.
His name was Noah.
The Bible tells us that Noah was a righteous man who walked with God.
So God spoke to Noah.
"Build a great ark," God said.
Now an ark was not a little rowboat. It was enormous! In fact, it was about as tall as a three-story building and long enough to hold a great many animals and people.
God told Noah that a great flood was coming upon the earth.
Then God gave Noah another unusual assignment.
Bring the animals!
Can you imagine being Noah?
Elephants. Camels. Sheep. Birds. Rabbits. Turtles. Maybe a few noisy geese. Probably some animals that smelled rather interesting too!
Noah was told to gather food and prepare the ark for his family and the animals.
And Noah did something very important.
He obeyed God.
Even though the task must have seemed enormous, even though other people may have laughed at him, Noah trusted God and did what God asked him to do.
Then, just as God had said, the rains came.
It rained for forty days and forty nights.
But Noah, his family, and the animals were safe inside the ark.
And from that family, God would begin again.
So Why Are We Making Cartoons About This?
Because Bible stories are meant to be remembered.
A funny cartoon may cause us to smile. A coloring page may cause us to pause. But both can encourage us to ask questions, open our Bible, and spend a few minutes with God.
Perhaps while coloring Noah's ark, someone may ask:
"Did this really happen?"
"Why did God choose Noah?"
“How many animals were there?"
“What does obedience look like today?"
Those are wonderful questions.
And that is exactly what Bible Story Cartoons is all about.
Questions to Think About
Why was God saddened by the people on earth?
Why did God choose Noah?
Have you ever had to do something difficult simply because it was the right thing to do?
What can we learn from Noah's trust and obedience?
If you had been on the ark, which animal would you have wanted to care for?
