Funny Nun Virtual Interview Cartoon

Vocation by Zoom

Religious Life & Vocations Cartoon by Opa

“Ignore them. They just want to know if you can cook.”

Discerning a vocation is serious business—but that doesn’t mean there can’t be a little joy and laughter along the way!

In Vocation by Zoom, a young woman discerning religious life meets online with a Vocation Director, while several very interested Sisters gather behind her to get a look at the prospective postulant. Their concern, apparently, goes just a little beyond her vocation!

For a religious community, welcoming someone who is exploring God’s call can be a wonderfully joyful occasion. Whether that journey eventually leads to postulancy and religious life or helps the person discover that God is calling her somewhere else, sincere vocational discernment is something worth encouraging and celebrating.

This warm Catholic cartoon by Opa offers a lighthearted way to remind young people that discerning a vocation is not simply about choosing a career. It is about listening, praying, asking questions, and discovering the particular way God may be calling each of us to love and serve.

It can be especially useful during vocation-awareness efforts, religious-life features, discernment programs, and communications encouraging young people to consider priesthood, diaconate, consecrated life, or other ways of answering God’s call.

A little humor can sometimes open the door to a much bigger question:

“Lord, what are You calling me to do?”
